Lately I've been a bit morose. My favorite quote these days has been:
Life IS pain, Princess, and anyone telling you different is just trying to sell you something.
What are your most used phrases from the movie??

Okay, I just read all of the last post on favorite quotes, it was great. One that my best friend says all the time, at those tender moments, is the religious guy at the marriage ceremony:
          Love, twoo love....
It cracks me up every time. I was having a home birth, and I got out of the lovely hot tub when I heard the movie was on TV, it was a great distraction from the labor pains! That's when I knew I was hooked.

The judge who married me to my husband had the mildest of speech impediments, and my husband and I both admitted to each other later that we had a moment when we weren't sure if we'd be able to keep from laughing out loud. He didn't sound like the impressive clergyman, but we both instantly thought of him.

What's really great about the clergyman is that if you watch the movie with closed caption on, they actually SPELLED those mis-pronunciations out! I had a student in my English class who was deaf and when I played the movie with closed caption, everyone else in the class was reading along and cracking up too!

At my sisters wedding, her maid of honor opened her speech with THAT line, and everybody was laughing. I loove it.

Anybody want a peanut is definitely among the tops but my personal fav is:

"I mean, if we only had a wheelbarrow, that would be something."

      Followed by:

"My brains, his steel, and your strength against sixty men, and you think a little head jiggle is supposed to make me happy?"

All my favorites are already listed here...

but first among these many has got to be

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia." But only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line."

partly because I'm Castillian, and it is a small slip to make it apply to me.

    ;o)

I am known among my circle of girlfriends as Princess Amy. I went to the wedding of my good friend Duchess Danielle, and each table had a "theme". Mine was "Wuv and Maiwaige".....hahaha the Princess Bride table!

I also love the way Buttercup calls Westley "Farm Boy".

All the others i read are great too:)

My sister and I looooove The Princess Bride. When she got married, I asked the very liberal minister to open the ceremony with the line "Mawwiage is what bwings us togevah today!"

haha thats great! I haven't watched the movie in a long time, but I've never forgotten about it. My favorite line was already said:

"Nothing better than a M.L.Y mutten lettuce and tomato sandwich were the muttin is all nice and lean."

Come on, now!!! Not one of you share's my favorite quote?! Actually, it's part of a quote, but it's one that I use almost too much:

    "It's possible...pig."

Yeah, gets some pretty interesting responses in return. Especially when said person hasn't seen or MEMORIZED this awesome classic.

Miracle Max: You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.

    ______________

    [Buttercup kisses the senile King]
The King: What was that for?
Buttercup: Because you have always been so kind to me, and I won't be seeing you again since I'm killing myself once we reach the honeymoon suite.
The King: Won't that be nice. She kissed me.

    ______________

Inigo Montoya: He's right on top of us. I wonder if he is using the same wind we are using.

    ______________

Inigo Montoya: I donna suppose you could espeed things up?

Westley: If you're in such a hurry, you could lower a rope or a tree branch or find something useful to do.

Inigo Montoya: I could do that. I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only only waiting around to kill you.

Westley: That does put a damper on our relationship.

    ______________

    Inigo Montoya: Who are you?

    Westley: No one of consequence.

    Inigo Montoya: I must know...

    Westley: Get used to disappointment.

    Inigo Montoya: 'kay.

Inigo Montoya: Are you the Miracle Max who worked for the king all those years?

Miracle Max: The King's stinking son fired me, and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed.

Westley: Hear this now: I will always come for you.
Buttercup: But how can you be sure?
Westley: This is true love - you think this happens every day?

      ----------------------------------------------------------------
Westley: I told you I would always come for you. Why didn't you wait for me?
      Buttercup: Well... you were dead.
Westley: Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while

      ----------------------------------------------------------------
Vizzini: Am I going MAD, or did the word "think" escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic land mass.

      ----------------------------------------------------------------
      Prince Humperdinck: Surrender.
Westley: You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept.
      ----------------------------------------------------------------

      heheh
Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
      Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
      Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
      Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.

      HEHEHEEHEHEH I had to, again!!!!

        Hippopotamic land mass??
And all this time, I thought he was saying "lionbass," and I figured it was some kind of fish. Which makes no sense.

I love reading all of these quotes rendered so lovingly... I hate butchered misquotes!
All I can think to add:
"I'm not saying I want to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely."

        Vizzini ~ Faster!
Fezzik ~ I thought I was going faster.
Vizzini ~ You were supposed to be this colossus. You were this great, legendary thing. And yet he gains.
Fezzik ~ Well, I'm carrying three people. And he's got only himself.
Vizzini ~ I do not accept excuses. I'm just going to have to find myself a new giant, that's all.
Fezzik ~ Don't say that, Vizzini. Please.
Vizzini ~ Did I make it clear that your job is at stake?
Fezzik ~ He has very good arms.
Vizzini ~ He didn't fall? Inconceivable!!
Inigo ~ You keep using that word -- I do not think it means what you think it means.

Fezzik ~ Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid, or something like that?
Westley ~ Oh no. It's just that they're terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.

Miracle Max ~ Look who knows so much. Well, it just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Please open his mouth. Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead...well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do.

"Hold it, what is this? Are you trying to trick me? Is this a kissing book?"

When the grandfather says "It was a very emotional time for Buttercup" the boy "I don't BELIEVE this"

When the grandfather turns and says "as you wish" when he leaves

"Let me explain. No, there's too much. Let me sum up"
I don't know this cracks me up every single time I watch the movie

I love the chemistry between the boy and the grandfather, I think the actors did a great job
By the way Narida I didn't realize we shared so many communities together
Awesome to see you on this one :)

The last two are my favs! I use those daily, if only in my head.

      I also use
"I'm waiting for Vinzini. He told me to come back to the begining, so I am back at the begining"
alot, though it's miss quoted due to Inigo being drunk when saying it and my being young hen first hearing it, it's just how it is in my head.

And "anybody want a penut?" leads my best girlfriend and I to rhyming games.
